Golf.....

What a beautiful day for golf......I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to golf on Wednesday and again today, the weather has been GREAT! November can go either way on the weather, it can be cold or nice!! I have had the chance to golf with my wife's Uncle, Wednesday and today, he is a golf pro in Kansas and actually owns the golf course! So he is allot of fun to play with, there are a number of people that claim to be golfers that are not! Not trying to be a golf snob but I do enjoy playing with someone who can truly play the game.

Sounds like the weather will nice again for the game tomorrow! I am looking forward to going to the last game of the season!! It should be interesting to see how this years bedlam turns out! At this point, I just hope it is a good game!

Then they are saying possible snow on Sunday/Monday what the heck!?!? I guess it is inevitable that winter will be here soon!! I am just enjoying the sunshine today!!!

Only a few more weeks.....

When I was reviewing the calendar I realized that we only had about three more weeks of this semester.....I guess it really is true when they say the older you get the faster times goes!! I can remember when I was in grade school and it seemed like it took FOREVER for Thanksgiving and Christmas to get here and now BOOM, they are here again!!! But when it came to Summer it barely got started and BOOM it was back to school, I guess when you are looking forward to something it seems time is at a stand still. Not to say I don't look forward to the Holidays, but they are definitely different when you are an adult.

When you are an adult it is not all about the what I want for Christmas list.....its the grocery list, the shopping list, the Christmas card list, the invitation list, the gift card list, the donation list, the list of parties that you have to make the apearance at list......and it goes on and on. Which even though it sounds like I am complaing....I am really not.....I am glad I have all those list to make and the money to spend on the people I love. BUT sometimes I think wouldn't it be great for just me and my wife to go to the mountains for Thanksgiving or Christmas and not worry about all the formality of the holidays. Just ski, relax, enjoy each other's company, do what ever we want to do!!!!

But that is not the tradition, the tradition is a house full of people with mountains of food!!! Don't get me wrong, my wife does most of the work.....but it would be nice to break tradition just once!!

Federal Holidays - Veterans Day

There are many great things about my job but one of them is the Federal Holidays, if the Federal Reserve is closed - we are closed. This week was one of those times, Veterans Day a great day to honor those who have served, are serving, and who have died for our freedoms.
One of our Branch's is at the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City, it is an honor to walk through those halls and shake Veterans hands on the way to our branch. I feel like I have the opportunity since I visit the branch at least weekly to be reminded how blessed we are that we have men and women that are willing to fight for our freedoms. Not to mention the families of these courageous men and women.

I enjoy these random days off, even though my job is pretty much on my mind 24/7. Yesterday I played golf with my brother, Henry. He is a member of Oak Tree, which is a beautiful course and for mid-November the weather was amazing! I am so thankful for being able to enjoy these days because even though my job maybe on my mind 24/7, those soldiers that are fighting for my freedom are living it 24/7 and that is a big difference. I just want to say THANK YOU TO THESE BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN!!!

Next time you see a soldier when you are out, remember to tell them how much you appreciate them and their service to our great country!!!

The Project

My lovely wife, who I adore, decided to start a "project" about a month ago. Mind you this started to be simply swapping the work out room with her scrap booking room. Which seemed simple enough at the time. One thing I might mention is that her scrap booking room is very similar to a scrap book store with the racks of colored paper, peg board with all the crazy cutting scissors hanging from it, punches of every shape, I think she has enough inventory for about 6 months to a year if she wanted to open a retail shop!! LOL

Then she decided she needed some new desk or tables or something to make it more organized....really could she more organized?? Then she could not find anything she liked, so off to Lowes, she thought she could just buy pre-made kitchen cabinets uppers and lowers and order a Formica top.....how perfect would that be!! So we had 16 (SIXTEEN) upper and lower cabinets in our garage FOREVER, while she stained them. I like to park in the garage, not happening when you have a cabinet shop in your garage!! Oh, I forgot to mention, we have Thanksgiving at our house, between 50-60 people. And my very organized wife has to have everything perfect before Thanksgiving, so SHE is working on a timeline!

I am positive, because I know my wife, everything will be completed by Thanksgiving. But next time when she says she has a little project she wants to do, I will probably have to remind her of this little project!! And then laugh hysterically!!!!

Blogging and other intimadating things!

Blogging....before this class began I had heard about blogging, facebook, twitter, all the social and business connections that could be made on the internet but I am from the old school....I will call you if you if I have something to say! I am of the over 40+ crowd without children, so this new technology has not been introduced to me, heck I am still working on texting. Which I might say I am getting very good at, I still spell all the words out, unlike some of my friends who I have to get paper and pencil out to figure out what they are saying!! (LOL)

I am hearing more and more about what a great way to communicate blogging has become, you can have blogging sites for family to keep them updated on what the latest is with the kids, grandma's illness or when the next family reunion will be. At the same time you can have a professional blog to keep in touch with business associates that may not be in your circle anymore, they may have moved on to a different job, location, or be looking for a job.

I am looking forward to learning more about blogging and discovering different ways to use it both personally and professionally!
