Only a few more weeks.....

When I was reviewing the calendar I realized that we only had about three more weeks of this semester.....I guess it really is true when they say the older you get the faster times goes!! I can remember when I was in grade school and it seemed like it took FOREVER for Thanksgiving and Christmas to get here and now BOOM, they are here again!!! But when it came to Summer it barely got started and BOOM it was back to school, I guess when you are looking forward to something it seems time is at a stand still. Not to say I don't look forward to the Holidays, but they are definitely different when you are an adult.

When you are an adult it is not all about the what I want for Christmas list.....its the grocery list, the shopping list, the Christmas card list, the invitation list, the gift card list, the donation list, the list of parties that you have to make the apearance at list......and it goes on and on. Which even though it sounds like I am complaing....I am really not.....I am glad I have all those list to make and the money to spend on the people I love. BUT sometimes I think wouldn't it be great for just me and my wife to go to the mountains for Thanksgiving or Christmas and not worry about all the formality of the holidays. Just ski, relax, enjoy each other's company, do what ever we want to do!!!!

But that is not the tradition, the tradition is a house full of people with mountains of food!!! Don't get me wrong, my wife does most of the work.....but it would be nice to break tradition just once!!

  1. You need to watch "Christmas with the Kranks"! (Not sure if it's completely true to or just based on John Grisham's "Skipping Christmas", but it's tied to this book). It's not exactly cinematic genius (plot is a little rough), but it addresses the concept of getting away from all the holiday stress by skipping Christmas and going on vacation instead. :) We just watched it last night while we were putting up our tree!
Hope you have a stress-free holiday! And if you can't actually be IN the mountains, being surrounded by mountains of FOOD and family/friends sounds like a great alternative! Yum! :) Happy Thanksgiving, Tim!
